Our Founder

Stephen Condell started as early as 10 contributing the the design of his parent's new house layout and spent many hours visiting art galleries, studying sculpture and architectural drafting whilst at school to designing and selling artworks after school, leading to interior design employment whilst studying interior design.

As the Director, Stephen Condell originally started working for two prominent interior design firms before starting his own business, Daniel Stevens Pty Ltd, being the Founder and Head Designer. Wanting to offer a new range of of bespoke designs, marketed under the name Fer Forge, Stephen designed a range of custom hand-made furniture and lighting from forged iron using traditional techniques. First exhibited in 1985. Awarded with "Best New Product" range and other awards of "Best Exhibitor Stand"

Both the iron and timber range of products was primarily designed based on design ethics from Classical Roman, Greek and Egyptian civilizations through to European and English 18th Century featuring Regency and Chinese Chippendale styles, Biedermeier, Art Deco, and Art & Crafts style through to Contemporary self designed pieces. All iron pieces were hand signed Fer Forge and with the makers name. Finishes varied from antique hand rubbed finishes with 18 carat gold or silver leaf highlights to industrial powder coat finishes..

Interior Designers and Architects across Australia consulted to Stephen Condell to design bespoke furniture and feature works for their projects.

The business grew substantially, supplying interior designers and architects across Australia, New Zealand and Internationally for bespoke custom fit outs in Exclusive Private Residences, Boutique Hotels, Internationally Renown Hotels and Resorts and National major Commercial Fit outs for Banks, Insurance Companies and Organizations.

After moving from Sydney to Melbourne, he was one of the first to set up property presentations styling homes before sale. Most items were custom built by Stephen, including feature artworks painted by Stephen.

Property presentations then led to building and renovating, specializing in designing bespoke kitchens and bathrooms and custom-made cabinetry.

Over the years he has continued to research, gain knowledge and experience in interior design, history of antiques, lighting and other areas of decoration.

Time for a change came in 2020 during the Covid 19 pandemic, with the decision to utilize his skills in establishing an online store specializing in products of design merit and quality and to offer collections, usually not available unless specified by designers.

Our Mission

As a business, it will continue to seek new product ranges from local and international manufacturers and suppliers who offer classical designs, quality workmanship and sustainability in product sourcing and manufacturing.
